Clarinetist Sandra McPherson has performed with the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra since its inception in 1997.  She earned degrees from CSU Fresno and UC Santa Barbara where she studied with the renowned studio and orchestral clarinetist James Kanter.  Prior to living in the Sacramento area, Ms. McPherson performed regularly with the West Coast Symphony, the Santa Barbara Symphony and the Ventura Symphony.  She is currently Acting Principal Clarinetist in the Sacramento Opera Orchestra, Principal Clarinetist of the the Gold Country Chamber Orchestra and the Sacramento Choral Society Orchestra, and is Bass Clarinetist in the Sacramento Philharmonic.  She has published articles in ClariNetwork magazine, and is on the faculty at University of California, Davis and American River College.  She is a frequent coach and adjudicator for the Sacramento Youth Symphony, and regularly performs at local schools as part of the Symphonic Woodwind Quintet.
