THE PERFECT PITCH – TEAMING UP FOR MUSIC EDUCATION

The Philharmonic’s education and outreach programs were launched through an initial grant from the Sacramento River Cats, who continue to offer support.  As River Cats CEO Art Savage says, “It’s clear that the Philharmonic shares our desire to be a resource for the entire region. ”  That early support gave us the opportunity to partner throughout the region with schools, businesses and individuals – and gives our youth opportunities to connect with the Philharmonic and its “players” in new and exciting ways.  PERFECT PITCH Programs reached over 22,000 youngsters in the Sacramento Region in the past year.

Can you imagine being an elementary school student in the Sacramento area and having Music Director Michael Morgan visit your classroom?  How about experiencing Assistant Concertmaster Dan Flanagan teaching group string classes at your school site?  Students can take part in these Philharmonic educational programs and more!

Maestro in Motion – Music director, Michael Morgan, visits Sacramento area schools.

Musicians on the Move  Quartets, Quintets and small ensembles visit schools to deliver standards-based arts education.

Guest Artists on the Go – Yes, even star soloists visit our schools!

Education Concerts – Young people attend a special concerts and rehearsals.

Inside & Backstage – A chance to experience the orchestra from within.

String Fever – Greatly subsidized group string lessons.  An exciting program!  Armed with 120 violins recently repaired by the Sacramento Philharmonic League, over 100 students from all areas of Sacramento are learning how to play violin!

Concert Tickets for Students & Their Families – 100 at every concert!

Behind the Music – Art & Music – Students create art inspired by music.

The Sacramento Philharmonic is extremely proud to have an association with local public and private schools and hope that this association spreads to many other schools in the Region.

These great programs would not be possible without financial  support from the community!
