Musicians on the Move

Get an up-close and personal look at the life and experiences of a professional musician. Students fulfill their curiosity and become inspired as they interact with a member of the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra.  No matter whether they are visited by a Flutist, a Viola player, or a Tuba player, the students sense the musician’s passion for music. Students also learn about the discipline and motivation behind years of study and practice, as well as the aspiration for excellence. Students gain special insight into what it takes to become a professional musician and play in the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra.

A select group of individuals from Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra are available to visit your school or community and provide students with a presentation that also addresses the Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools.  The Musicians on the Move program addresses VPA Content Standard 4.0, “Aesthetic Valuing”, by discussing how ideas and moods are communicated through music, how to use music terminology when judging its quality, and by describing the characteristics that make a performance a work of art.

Musicians on the Move
