Leo Gravin
Cello
Leo Gravin, M.A., is a cellist with the Sacramento Philharmonic, Opera, Choral Society Orchestra, and Music Circus. He holds a California Clear Teaching Credential, an Administrative Services Credential, and teaches stringed instruments full-time with the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District. He started the string program at Sierra Mountain Music Camp, where he continues to work one week each summer.
Previous activities as a cellist include performances at Bear Valley Music Festival, Music in the Mountains, and Lake Tahoe; Aspen, Colorado, Round Top, Texas, and Long Beach, California; and the California Music Center in Belmont and Berkeley. He is a former cellist of the Stockton Symphony, Reno Philharmonic, and Lake Tahoe/ Reno headliner showrooms. As co-founder and cellist of the Opus 3 Trio (for two violins and cello) and the Tenstrings Duo (for cello and guitar), he has performed for former President Clinton, several California Governors, and many other notable events.
As a conductor, Mr. Gravin has directed the South Placer Youth Symphony the Solano County Youth Orchestra, and served as conductor of the CMEA All-City Youth Orchestra. Mr. Gravin also works regularly with the Sacramento Youth Symphony and the Golden Empire Music Festival as a string coach and adjudicator. Students of Mr. Gravin play in the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier and Academic orchestras, have received “Superior” ratings at the Golden Empire Music Festival, and have recently won gold and silver medals at the CMEA State Solo and Ensemble Festival.
